Red is best used in areas where energy should be high. It is stimulating and invigorating, but the color can also shorten tempers and increase irritability. Using red in rooms oriented towards relaxation is not recommended. Red can increase hunger, so it could be suitable for a restaurant or dining area.
Our prehistoric ancestors saw red as the color of fire. Red was almost as rare and as expensive as purple in ancient days – a fact that may explain its magic and power.
Red captures attention. It is one of the most visible colors, second only to yellow – therefore it’s used on fire engines and stop signs to trigger alertness.
Note: Eight percent of the male population has a red-green color vision deficiency and cannot see red at all
